Many foreign financial service providers are increasingly supplementing their range of services with additional services, such as leasing and factoring. In doing so, they make an important contribution to the necessary liquidity of the German economy and its financing. Frequently, foreign financial service providers establish a specialized subsidiary whose respective activities – as a mainly German peculiarity in the EU – is supervised by BaFin. In the payment services sector, there are also some specialized institutions with foreign shareholders. The newly introduced financial services of crypto custody and crypto securities registry keeping are likely to create further interesting fields of activity for foreign financial services providers, especially as these providers have often already been able to gain relevant experience in their home countries.
